two things:
anyone who can pluck “hello it’s me” and “i saw the light” from out of the sky must have sold his soul to the devil.

after the look he gives the camera between 2:10 and 2:15, i half expect him to do the mangina from Silence of the Lambs.

Shit i didn’t even know about a new SKM record! Good stuff. Did you know about the bonus disc from Ghosts? I didn’t know about that either, so had to go pirate it last night. Seems to be top rate.

Still can’t get into Tiny Cities, though.

But Ghosts has gotta be in my top ten of the last ten years.

So i finalized another job transfer yesterday. It’s got me coming back to Richmond in the Summer. I’ll be doing the same job i used to do when i was in Richmond, but quite a lot less of it. So that should be very cool. Might need someone to check on my cat while i’m gone though…

Man, i was looking forward to that show when i saw it! I had just “rediscovered” Hello It’s Me and was listening to that constantly, along with Something Anything.

But he played solo, used a cheesey electric “acoustic”-modeling guitar which sounded godawful, and worst of all you could tell that he might have practiced once. He did not get through any of his songs without forgetting something then stopping and laughing and expecting everyone to think it was funny and then he went on to the next one.

I was almost willing to question whether it was some untalented imposter trying to make a handful of cash with Rundgren’s name. Here’s some more proof from diehard fans:

I would see him again i guess, as long as he was with a band and somehow i had proof that he actually practiced ahead of time…

New things to check out: a new Canadian power trio called “Plants & Animals”, the new Dead Meadow of course, and the new Stephen Malkmus record, who would’ve guessed? Oh and also “Recent Bedroom” by Atlas Sound, pretty entrancing.
